The girl’s rampage continued as she pushed past two male teachers who attempted to de-escalate the situation, then attacked another student before finally being restrained by staff. Ms. Hopkin’s injuries necessitated airlifting her to receive medical treatment.

Following her apprehension, the girl’s behavior and statements further fueled the prosecution’s case. While in police custody, she allegedly made flippant remarks about the stabbings, expressing a perverse sense of notoriety, and even inquiring about the victims’ status. A search of her home uncovered disturbing notes and drawings referencing Mrs. Elias and the attacked student, including violent imagery and derogatory labels. These materials, according to the prosecution, shed light on the girl’s premeditation and intent.

The defense’s strategy focuses on challenging the attempted murder charge. While the girl doesn’t dispute her responsibility for the stabbings, her legal team contends that she did not intend to kill any of the victims. This distinction forms the crux of the legal battle.
