The highly anticipated Minion Land is set to open its doors at Universal Studios Singapore on February 14, 2025, much to the delight of Despicable Me fans. This exciting addition is part of a substantial $5 billion expansion project at Resorts World Sentosa, where Universal Studios Singapore resides alongside other themed zones like Hollywood, New York, and Sci-Fi City. Minion Land will replace the existing Madagascar Land, transforming the area into a vibrant hub celebrating the mischievous and beloved Minions. The new land promises a fully immersive experience, transporting guests into the world of Gru and his quirky yellow companions.

Minion Land will boast an array of new attractions, dining experiences, and retail opportunities. Among the highlights is the world’s first Minion dance party-themed carousel, dubbed “Buggie Boogie.” Guests can choose their favorite Minion-inspired vehicle and boogie down to remixed popular songs spun by DJ Carl. Venturing further into Gru’s Neighborhood, visitors can experience the thrilling Despicable Me Minion Mayhem ride, taking them on a wild journey through Gru’s supervillain lab. A brand-new show, “Minute of Minion Mayhem,” will feature Gru’s daughters Margo, Edith, and Agnes, adding another layer of entertainment to the Minion-centric experience. Opportunities for meet-and-greets with beloved characters from the Despicable Me franchise will undoubtedly be a major draw for fans of all ages.

The culinary landscape within Minion Land will also undergo a transformation with the introduction of new restaurants and themed eateries. The Super Hungry Food Stand, inspired by the fictional Super Silly Fun Land from the animated films, will feature Minion-operated game kiosks and provide a whimsical dining experience. For those with a sweet tooth, the giant candy-themed store, Sweet Surrender, will offer a plethora of Minion-themed merchandise and confectionery delights. Additional retail outlets like Pop Store and Fun Store will further cater to fans looking to take home a piece of the Minion magic.

The addition of Minion Land is expected to significantly boost Universal Studios Singapore’s appeal, attracting both local and international visitors. Resorts World Sentosa President expressed confidence in the new land’s popularity, highlighting its unique attractions, retail experiences, and dining options, some of which are exclusive to the Singapore park. Paige Thompson, President of New Ventures at Universal Destinations & Experiences, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the widespread love for the Minions and the immersive storytelling that the new land brings to life. The project leverages the enduring popularity of the Despicable Me and Minions franchises to create a captivating theme park experience.

Universal Studios Singapore is not the only theme park undergoing expansion and introducing new attractions in the coming years. Paultons Park in the UK is gearing up to open Ghostly Manor next spring, an interactive and family-friendly replacement for their existing 4D cinema. A Viking-themed land is also on the horizon for Paultons Park, slated to open in 2026, replacing the log flume and karting track. Looking further ahead, a UK version of the French theme park Puy du Fou is being considered, promising a unique and historically immersive experience.

The global theme park landscape is brimming with exciting developments. Universal’s Epic Universe in Florida is set to open in May 2024, featuring five immersive worlds based on popular franchises like Super Nintendo World, How to Train Your Dragon, and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Qatar is preparing to welcome The Land of Legends theme park in 2028, a multi-billion dollar project that will boast seven themed lands and become one of the largest theme parks in the Middle East. Closer to the UK, the indoor theme park Bommelwereld, situated within the grounds of a new castle called Bommelstein in Groenlo, Netherlands, is expected to open next year, offering a unique and enchanting experience. These new additions to the global theme park scene promise exciting new adventures for thrill-seekers and families alike.
