Shavoughne Firth, a 27-year-old woman from Cornwall, has bravely chosen to share her harrowing story of childhood sexual abuse. Beginning at the tender age of five and continuing until she was twelve, Shavoughne endured repeated sexual assaults at the hands of her older brother, Kieran Firth, who was 16 when the abuse began. The abuse took place in the family home near Penzance, a place that should have been a sanctuary but instead became a scene of repeated trauma. The impact of these experiences has profoundly shaped Shavoughne’s life, leaving her with deep emotional scars and a sense of alienation from her own family.

The abuse, which included indecent assault, assault by penetration, and sexual assault, was a constant threat throughout Shavoughne’s formative years. She described feeling “alienated, lost, and not human” as a result of the trauma she endured. The
