Starbucks is offering free tall drinks to NHS workers as a thank you for their services throughout the year. This one-day offer will take place across the majority of Starbucks shops on December 5. In addition to the free drinks, the coffee chain is also delivering cans of Doubleshot Espresso, instant coffee sachets, chocolate-covered pretzels, and vegan brownies to hospitals and ambulance services. NHS workers will need to show a valid NHS ID to redeem the offer in-store, and Blue Light Cards will not be accepted. Not all Starbucks locations in England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland will be participating in the offer, so workers are advised to call ahead.

The list of hospitals that will be receiving free drinks and food includes Cumbria, Northumberland Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust, Northumbria Healthcare NHS Trust Charity (Bright Charity), Our Hospitals Charity – South Tees Hospitals, and others. Ambulance services such as the East of England Ambulance Service, London Ambulance Service, and Scottish Ambulance Service will also be receiving product drop-offs from Starbucks. This initiative is part of Starbucks’ ongoing work with NHS Charities Together to show appreciation for the hard work and dedication of NHS staff.

Starbucks has been offering NHS staff freebies for one day each year since 2019, with previous offerings including free drinks and caramel waffles. Alex Rayner, general manager at Starbucks UK, expressed pride in being able to offer this giveaway for the fifth year running as a small token of gratitude for the remarkable service provided by NHS staff. The coffee chain hopes that NHS workers can come together and enjoy a coffee on the house at Starbucks locations on the designated day. In addition to the free drinks, customers can save 25p on their order by bringing a reusable cup and sign up for the Starbucks rewards scheme to earn points towards a free drink.

Starbucks offers a variety of coffee options at different prices, ranging from a Caffe Latte for £4.25 to an Iced Caffe Latte for £4.30. By signing up for the Starbucks rewards scheme, customers can earn points known as “Stars” for every £1 spent, which can be redeemed for a free drink once they reach a certain number of points. At 150 stars, equivalent to £50 spent, customers earn a free drink. By reaching 450 stars and achieving “Gold Level,” customers can receive additional perks such as extra shots of espresso, syrups, and whipped cream for free. The Starbucks app, available on Google Play and the Apple App Store, also offers discounts and special offers for members, including 10% off for Blue Light holders.

In addition to the free drinks for NHS workers, Starbucks will also be delivering tens of thousands of cans of Doubleshot Espresso, instant coffee sachets, and other treats to hospitals and ambulance services. The coffee chain has partnered with NHS Charities Together to show their support and appreciation for the hard work and dedication of NHS staff. This initiative is part of Starbucks’ ongoing efforts to give back to the community and provide a small token of gratitude for the essential workers who have been at the forefront of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. By offering free drinks and food to those working tirelessly to care for others, Starbucks hopes to show their appreciation for the invaluable contributions of NHS workers.
