A boy named Tony Hudgell, whose legs were amputated after suffering horrific abuse from his birth parents, has undergone surgery to help him walk unaided. Despite years of using crutches, prosthetics, or a wheelchair to get around, Tony can now walk on his upper legs after undergoing an operation to reconstruct his permanently dislocated hip and lengthen his left leg. The surgery has made it easier for him to wear prosthetics as his legs are now of equal length. His adoptive mother, Paula Hudgell, described the surgeon as “absolutely incredible” and expressed her joy at seeing Tony’s progress. She also mentioned that while this surgery is not the end of his journey, he is excited to play football and has already started kicking a ball during his recovery.
