New Air Routes Connect Northeast England to Channel Islands’ Charms
Starting May 3, 2025, residents of Northeast England will have a more convenient way to escape to the idyllic Channel Islands of Jersey and Guernsey. Blue Islands, a regional airline, will launch a new seasonal service from Newcastle International Airport, offering thrice-weekly direct flights every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday until November 2, 2025. This route expansion follows Newcastle Airport’s recognition as the "Overall Winner" and "Airport of the Year" at the Routes World Awards 2024, further solidifying its growing prominence in regional connectivity. The new service promises to facilitate weekend getaways and longer stays for those seeking the unique blend of British and French influences found in these charming islands. While the direct service is seasonal, travelers will still have access to the Channel Islands via connecting flights through Southampton Airport with Loganair after November.
Blue Islands’ strategic expansion extends beyond Newcastle, with new routes also planned from East Midlands Airport, Exeter Airport, and Norwich Airport to Guernsey. From March 2025, Exeter will enjoy a year-round schedule with up to six flights per week, while Norwich will have a twice-weekly seasonal service with stops in Jersey starting May 10, 2025. East Midlands Airport will be served by three flights per week. This network expansion reflects Blue Islands’ commitment to enhancing connectivity within the British Isles and providing travelers with more options to explore these often-overlooked destinations.
