Alisa Mathewson’s 55-hour ordeal began in the early hours of May 11, 2017, when her estranged husband, Trevor Summers, sneaked into her Florida home and attacked her in her sleep. Convinced she was going to die, Alisa fought for her life as Trevor pressed a pillow to her face. The attack was just the beginning of a horrific two-and-a-half-day period during which Trevor repeatedly sexually assaulted her, tied her up, abducted her, and attempted to kill her multiple times. He even wrote a murder-suicide note to their five children, intending to kill both Alisa and himself.

Alisa’s marriage to Trevor had initially been happy, with the birth of each of their five children strengthening their bond. However, in 2016, Trevor’s behavior changed, exhibiting signs of financial abuse, control, manipulation, and using their children to exert his will. Unaware of the nature of domestic violence at the time, Alisa gradually became a prisoner in her own home, forbidden from interacting with other men. Eventually, she found the courage to leave, escaping to a shelter with nothing but the clothes on her back and the responsibility of providing for her children.

In January 2017, lured by Trevor’s promise of a divorce, child support, and a substantial check, Alisa cautiously went to his house. He held her at knifepoint for six hours, although he didn’t physically harm her. When Alisa reported the incident to the police, they dismissed her story due to the lack of physical injuries, further eroding her confidence. Realizing the danger she was in, Alisa began recognizing the red flags she had missed.

Following this incident, Trevor manipulated their children, particularly their eldest daughter Arden, against Alisa. He convinced them that their mother was a liar and had problems, enlisting Arden’s help in vandalizing Alisa’s home.
