ASDA has sent out an urgent warning to customers regarding £55million worth of vouchers set to expire. Shoppers have until December 31st to convert any savings in their Christmas Saver Cashpots into vouchers and use them for discounts on their next purchase. While around 750,000 customers have already converted their Cashpots into vouchers averaging £20 each, there are still over four million customers who have yet to do so. The deadline to start saving into the Cashpots was November 3rd, with the option to convert savings into vouchers becoming available on November 8th.

To create a voucher, customers need to access the wallet section of the Asda Rewards app and select “Create Voucher”. They then confirm the amount they want to spend from their Christmas Saver Cashpot. Vouchers in shoppers’ wallets will automatically be applied to online orders. Asda introduced the Christmas Saver Cashpots for the second year in January, following its initial launch in 2023. Last year, 1.7 million customers saved an average of £30 into their Cashpot for Christmas shopping. The loyalty scheme works by allowing customers to earn cash rewards known as Asda Pounds when shopping in-store or online and scanning the app barcode at checkout. By completing missions and purchasing specified products, customers can maximize their rewards using the Asda Rewards app.

Consumer reporter Sam Walker shared tips on how shoppers can save money on Christmas shopping. Suggestions include limiting the amount of presents by organizing a Secret Santa among close circles, planning ahead by purchasing gifts in the January sales for the following year, and shopping around for the best deals using price comparison sites. Boxing Day sales can also offer opportunities to snag bargains early, with some retailers starting their Christmas sales before December 25. Shopping at outlet stores like Amazon Warehouse or Office Offcuts for slightly damaged or returned products at discounted rates can also help save money during the holiday season.

For those interested in participating in the Asda loyalty scheme through the Asda Rewards app, they can download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play store and create an account with basic information. The scheme allows customers to earn rewards by purchasing specified products or completing missions, which may involve spending a certain amount to earn a voucher. With new missions and events each week, there are various ways for customers to maximize their rewards. It is essential to consider the value of deals offered and compare them with other retailers to ensure the savings are worthwhile. By joining the Sun Money Chats and Tips Facebook group, customers can share their money-saving tips and experiences with others who are looking for ways to manage their finances effectively.
