Great-gran Beverley Jarvis, 75, is planning to cook her entire Boxing Day meal for 14 people using five air fryers instead of her traditional oven. She believes that this method will be cheaper, quicker, and healthier for her family. Beverley has used air fryers in the past for her Christmas dinner and found that they cooked food 20 minutes faster and required less electricity than her oven. She will be preparing a sugar and rum-glazed gammon, salmon with satsuma, chilli, and parsley, caramelized fruit, and cheese scones for dessert.

To cook the gammon, Beverley will soak it in cold water for three hours before placing it in the air fryer. Gammon joints typically take just 15 minutes per 450g to cook in an air fryer, making it a quick and easy option for larger meals. For the salmon dish, she will blot the fillet dry and season it with the juice of a satsuma, parsley, chopped chilli, and butter before cooking it for 17 minutes. Beverley emphasizes that this cooking method is much faster than using a traditional oven, which would take around 40 minutes for the same dish.

For dessert, Beverley plans to make caramelized fruit using nectarines, pears, and plums. This sweet treat is a simple and tasty option that can be cooked quickly in the air fryer. In addition, she will be making cheese scones, which only require 15 minutes to bake in the air fryer. Beverley’s dedication to using air fryers for her family meals stems from her belief that they are a more efficient and healthier way to cook.
