In Koh Phi Phi, Thailand, a kindhearted policeman helped two unconscious female backpackers, German Sina Baumann and Australian Tahli Benson, after a wild night of partying on November 29. The girls were too drunk to speak or stand up, so the officer, Sergeant Major Saneh Jualaong, borrowed a pushcart from a nearby shop to transport them back to their hotel. Despite efforts to wake them, Sina and Tahli remained unconscious during the journey.
Once they arrived at the hotel, the officer, along with the help of friends, placed the girls in their bunk beds and covered them with blankets. Sergeant Major Jualaong expressed concern for the girls’ safety, thinking of their parents back home and the potential accidents they could have gotten into if left unattended in such a state. He wanted to ensure they returned safely to their beds, away from any potential harm.
Police Colonel Surasak Jaidee, superintendent of Koh Phi Phi Police Station, explained that the use of a trolley was necessary as all routes on the island are for walking, making it impossible to use a car or motorcycle to transport the unconscious passengers. This act of assisting intoxicated tourists is not new, as the police have been doing so for over two years. The main goal is to help and protect tourists who come to the island to have fun without facing any punishment for their behavior.
The girls, Sina and Tahli, were unable to wake up throughout the incident, demonstrating the severity of their intoxication and need for assistance. Sergeant Major Jualaong’s actions exemplified his care and consideration for the safety of the travelers, especially given the dangers they could have encountered in their inebriated state. The heartwarming and funny video of the officer pushing the girls on a pushcart back to their hotel went viral, showcasing the unique and compassionate way in which he helped the tourists.
This incident highlights the importance of looking out for one another, especially in situations where individuals are vulnerable or unable to care for themselves. The officer’s actions serve as a reminder of the responsibility we all have to ensure the safety and well-being of those around us, even strangers in need of help. By offering assistance and protection to others, we can create a safer and more caring community where everyone can feel supported and looked after, particularly in times of need. The kindness and empathy shown by Sergeant Major Saneh Jualaong are a testament to the power of compassion in making a positive impact on the lives of others.
