Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, has recently announced one of the new features of Instagram in his latest video. He posted on Twitter clarifying ‘Instagram is no longer just a photo-sharing app.’ The new Instagram feature is called “Exclusive Stories” that will change the way we use this social media platform. He revealed that the first reason why people use Instagram is to be entertained. The company plans to adapt to this trend and focus on providing entertainment, while the platform will compete with platforms like TikTok and YouTube.
He also confirmed that the platform will soon start sharing feeds that you may not be following yet. Based on what the users may prefer watching, the platform will direct them towards content creators under the same niche. The new format will also introduce a mobile-first video format that will support full-screen mode.
The developers are focused on implementing the “Exclusive Stories” feature, which will soon be out for the users, according to the reports. This feature will enable other users to access their favorite creator’s stories while creating a paid subscription option for the content creators. This will allow creators to provide access only to fans who have bought the subscription.
Several stories and screenshots have been revealed to showcase the new user interface of Instagram that confirms the upcoming features. For now, the new features are still in development and are tested internally by the developers. These new features, according to Instagram chief Mosseri, will support the creators in monetizing their content on the platform.
Software Developer Alessandro Paluzzi has also shared a few screenshots displaying the new features of Instagram. These screenshots reveal that the new features will allow users to post their stories under a fan section where the stories will show up with a purple icon. These stories will only be accessible when a user pays to be a fan of a creator. A dialog box will also appear, stating the same. The creators will also be able to save their exclusive stories as Highlights. This new feature will resemble the Super Follow feature on Twitter and also the overall concept of platforms like OnlyFans and Patreon.
While you are getting ready to make the best use of these new features, make sure your profile is up to date and suits the requirements of these new features. Adding more videos on IGTV or sharing reels will increase your reach among the users. Since these new features will target videos, Instagram will no longer be a photo-centric platform. We can also expect to see IGTV taking its full tole on the platform and finally become a mobile-friendly entertainment outlet.
