Fortnite recently concluded its Remix season and Chapter 5 with a large live event featuring a tribute to the late rapper Juice WRLD. The event also included performances by Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Ice Spice, setting a new all-time record for an in-game concert. More than 14 million players attended the event, with a peak player count of 14,343,880. The live event, titled Remix: The Finale, took place in the game and featured a digital experience unlike the season’s opening concert, which was a live broadcast from Times Square. An encore of the event will also be available for players who missed the initial live event.
The event began at Snoop Dogg’s headquarters, The Doggpound, a remixed version of The Agency on Fortnite’s Battle Royale map. Snoop Dogg opened the concert with a performance of “Drop It Like It’s Hot” and a new song, “Another Part of Me” featuring Sting. Eminem and Ice Spice also performed during the event, with Ice Spice inviting players to follow her across neon-lit rooftops. The highlight of the event was a tribute to Juice WRLD, with a world premiere of a previously unreleased track, “Empty Out Your Pockets”, and a performance of Juice WRLD’s hit song “Lucid Dreams”. Players also had the opportunity to watch the official music video for “Empty Out Your Pockets” before returning to the game’s lobby.
This tribute to Juice WRLD marks the first time Fortnite has honored a celebrity who has passed away. The game delivered a touching tribute to the late rapper who died in 2019, concluding the hip-hop star-studded Remix season and Chapter 5. Players still have the opportunity to claim the Slayer Juice WRLD skin by logging into the game for a limited time. Chapter 6 of Fortnite is set to kick off on December 1, 2024, with Season 1: Hunters bringing a Japanese theme to the game. Players can also expect changes to Fortnite’s Battle Pass and Crew subscription to take effect with the launch of Chapter 6.
