The Goo Goo Dolls, a popular US band, had to cancel their South African tour as the frontman, John Rzeznik, was rushed to the hospital due to pneumonia. John shared the news on social media from his hospital bed, expressing his disappointment at having to postpone the tour. The band reassured fans that the rescheduled tour dates would take place in March 2025, with shows scheduled in Cape Town, Durban, and Pretoria.

In a video message, John apologized to fans for not being able to perform and promised to return as soon as he was able. He thanked fans for their understanding and support during this challenging time. Fans expressed their concern and well wishes for John’s recovery, highlighting his importance as a musician and their admiration for his work ethic. Ticket holders for the cancelled shows were assured that their tickets would still be valid for the rescheduled dates.

The Goo Goo Dolls rose to fame in the 1990s with hits like “Iris,” which sold over a million copies in the UK. They are also known for songs such as “Slide” and “Black Balloon.” John Rzeznik previously underwent a significant lifestyle change by becoming sober, citing a dark period in his life that led to his decision. He acknowledged the support of his bandmates and fans during this challenging time and expressed gratitude for their continued encouragement.

Despite the setback of cancelling their tour, the Goo Goo Dolls have upcoming gigs in Florida and New York, with plans to tour in Australia in February and March. John Rzeznik mentioned that playing at Glastonbury Festival is still on the band’s bucket list, expressing excitement at the possibility of participating in the iconic music event. The band’s dedicated fanbase continues to show support and love for the musicians, hoping for a speedy recovery for John and looking forward to their future performances.
