Alright, so, picture this: Me, Gavin, your favourite Essex geezer, right? Used to the sweet, sticky goodness of Barry Island rock, the kind you gnaw on till your jaw aches. But, get this, I had a slightly different encounter with a rock recently. A right proper stage rock, the kind that doesn’t come in sugary stripes. Whacked me noggin good it did, right in the middle of a West End performance of The Tempest no less. Ten minutes in, bang! Seeing stars, I was. The show had to stop, they patched me up, and, despite feeling like Smithy had landed one on me, I carried on like a trooper. Forehead throbbing like a drum, mind you. It were a proper drama, like something out of Pam’s worst nightmare, only without the vegetarian sausages.

Anyway, back to the matter at hand: Gavin & Stacey. Big news, everyone! The Christmas special’s coming, and it’s going to be the last one. Gutted, I am. But, as James Corden, our very own Smithy, said, “It can’t carry on.” I was at the photocall yesterday, bit worse for wear after the stage incident, mind, so I had to duck out early, missed the Q&A and all that. But let me tell you, this final episode is going to be a corker. Like a well-oiled fishing trip, only without the awkward silences and whatever mysterious thing happened between Bryn and Jason. Speaking of Bryn and Jason… what was that all about, eh?

Now, I know everyone’s dying to know what Smithy’s going to say to Nessa after her shock proposal. Will they or won’t they? It’s the question on everyone’s lips. James and Ruth, they’ve got us all on the edge of our seats, haven’t they? It’s like waiting for Pam to finally admit she loves a good burger. He’s hinted at maybe a spin-off, something about Smithy and Nessa. Now that would be something, wouldn’t it? Imagine, a whole show dedicated to their Barry Island shenanigans!

Thinking back to all the classic moments we’ve had over the years… Smithy and Rudi rapping American Boy, Pam’s vegetarian fiasco (bless her), that infamous fishing trip, the unforgettable Islands in the Stream karaoke… It’s been a right laugh, hasn’t it? And now it’s coming to an end. Bittersweet, that is. Like a stick of rock with a salty centre. But, you know, all good things must come to an end, even if it’s harder than saying no to a Pam-cooked Sunday roast.

It’s been a journey, that’s for sure. From Essex to Barry and back again, with enough laughs and love to fill a whole coach trip. We’ve seen Gavin and Stacey navigate the ups and downs of marriage, dealt with family dramas, and witnessed the blossoming, albeit unconventional, romance between Smithy and Nessa. And who could forget Bryn? Bless him, the most well-meaning, slightly awkward uncle a fella could ask for. He’s the glue that holds the whole Barry Island gang together.

This final Christmas special, it’s going to be a proper send-off. A celebration of everything we love about Gavin & Stacey: the humour, the heart, the characters who feel like family. And, of course, the lingering question: what will Smithy say? It’s going to be emotional, I reckon. Like the time Smithy cried at the airport. Or when Gwen gave birth to Neil the Baby. Prepare yourselves for a rollercoaster of emotions, folks. It’s going to be epic.

So, there you have it. The curtain’s about to fall on our little Gavin & Stacey world. But not before one last hurrah. One last Christmas dinner, one last karaoke session, and, hopefully, some answers to the burning questions that have been plaguing us for years. Will Smithy and Nessa finally find their happy ever after? Will Bryn finally reveal the secrets of that fishing trip? And will Pam finally admit she’s not a vegetarian? Only time will tell. But one thing’s for sure, it’s going to be a Christmas special to remember. Mark my words. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off for a lie down. This head of mine’s still throbbing a bit. Cheers, everyone!
