Seven men from Wales arrested after a serious assault in Liverpool city centre have been released under investigation as detectives continue to work on the incident.
A gravely-injured 27-year-old man was found unconscious in the street near Liverpool Central railway station in the early hours of August 14 and was rushed to hospital.
His condition is now said to be improving and he is described as being “stable” though he remains in hospital.

Police subsequently arrested a 40-year-old man from Pontypridd on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs. Six other men, aged between 33 and 41 and also from south Wales, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs in relation to suspected cocaine found in a hotel room.
Merseyside Police say the man from Pontypridd has now been released on conditional bail pending further inquiries and the other men have been released under investigation.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident and are appealing for anyone with information about what happened or anyone who was in area at the time to come forward.
