VAN Der Valk is back for a brand new series, after it was successfully rebooted back in 2020.
The ITV drama follows a team of cops as they struggle to get to grips with high profile murders.
Where is Van Der Valk set?
The original series of Van Der Valk, released in 1972, left fond memories in the minds of viewers.
The rebooted Dutch crime drama is set and shot in the heart of Amsterdam.
Van Der Valk joins other classics such as Bond thriller Diamonds Are Forever that have been shot in the Dutch capital.
Some of the iconic landmarks featured in the series include the old city centre and the canals.
Where is Van Der Valk filmed?
The Amsterdam Canal Belt
Four canals make up the inner canal belt in Amsterdam.
These are the Singel, the Herengracht, the Keizersgracht, and the Prinsengracht.

This area is widely known in Dutch, as the Grachtengordel.
It was built in the 17th century to deal with an increasing population during the Dutch Golden age, it is now a Unesco World Heritage site.
The canals feature heavily in both season 1 and 2 of Van Der Valk.
Crews were spotted at the iconic Scheveningen Pier.
The historic pier extends into the North Sea, near The Hague, and is featured in season 2.
Most people visit the location for the sea views or to ride on the huge ferris wheel.
Van Der Valk’s boat
Marc Warren’s Van Der Valk lives on a vintage trawler, so he can leave the city whenever he wants.
Screenwriter Chris Murray told iNews: “It’s not easy to film on but it just oozes character. We all love it.”
When it’s not being used for the show, this vintage fishing boat is available for fans to charter.
Utrecht and The Hague
Amsterdam wasn’t the only location used.
Two other Dutch cities – Utrecht and The Hague – double for the capital in some scenes.
Speaking again to iNews, screenwriter Chris Murray said: “Amsterdam is quite difficult to film in.
“The canal-lined streets are quite narrow, and it’s hard to get permission to get a production crew in for long, so we look further afield to find places that are more accessible.”
When is Van Der Valk on TV?
Van Der Valk season 2 will begin on Sunday August 7, 2022 at 8pm on ITV.
It’s a three-part series so the two-hour long episodes will run on consecutive Sundays and also on ITV Hub.
There is also a US air date which is Sunday, September 25, 2022 at 9pm ET on PBS.
